Advisory & M&A Senior Consultant

ADVISORY CONSULTING | TRANSACTION SUPPORT | FINANCIAL ANALYSIS

Position Summary

Winding River Consulting (WRC) is seeking an Advisory & M&A Senior Consultant with approximately five years of experience in finance, accounting, consulting, or professional services. The ideal candidate brings strong financial and accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and creative problem-solving skills—and is energized by direct partner and client interaction in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial firm.

Working closely with WRC partners and engagement leaders, this individual will support advisory projects for professional services firms using WRC's Enterprise Value Framework and contribute to buy-side and sell-side M&A engagements. The role offers hands-on analytical work, meaningful client exposure, and significant opportunity for growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Own assigned workstreams across multiple advisory and M&A engagements, from planning through delivery.
\n
• Maintain project plans, timelines, deliverables, and action items; identify risks and recommend practical solutions.
\n
• Support strategic advisory projects for professional services firms using WRC's Enterprise Value Framework.
\n
• Analyze financial statements, operating metrics, growth opportunities, and value drivers; build and quality-check related models and forecasts.
\n
• Support buy-side and sell-side M&A engagements through building acquisition target lists, executing sourcing campaigns, transaction analysis, diligence coordination, and data-room management.
\n
• Coordinate with WRC partners, clients, team members, and external stakeholders to keep engagements moving.
\n
• Translate analysis into clear insights, client-ready materials, and practical recommendations.
\n

Qualifications

Required

\n
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
\n
• Approximately five years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, consulting, transaction advisory, or professional services.
\n
• Strong understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, and business performance drivers.
\n
• Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, including the ability to turn data into practical recommendations.
\n
• Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
\n
• Ability to manage competing priorities, communicate clearly, and work confidently with partners and clients.
\n

Preferred

\n
• CPA, CMA, MBA, or progress toward a comparable professional credential.
\n
• Experience in a CPA, advisory, consulting, investment banking, or other professional services firm.
\n
• Exposure to M&A advisory, financial due diligence, quality of earnings, valuation, or professional services firm economics.
\n

• Independently owns defined workstreams across advisory and M&A engagements.
\n
• Produces reliable financial analyses, models, and client-ready recommendations.
\n
• Contributes meaningful insights to Enterprise Value Framework assessments and transaction processes.
\n
• Builds trusted relationships and demonstrates readiness for increasingly complex client responsibilities.
